Description
It was an Aboriginal stockman named Jackie Nolan who discovered the first Diprotodon bones at Lake Callabonna in 1892, spurring a South Australian Museum expedition that eventually excavated a full skeleton of this giant extinct marsupial. Assembled and unveiled in 1907, the Diprotodon skeleton is a fascinating glimpse of South Australia’s prehistoric past.
